gift idea: family recipe book
Today I want to share one of the best Christmas gifts I've ever received. A few years ago, my sister gave me a family recipe book, filled with copies of all of my mom's dessert recipes.
Libby copied every single dessert recipe and arranged them in alphabetical order in a cute photo album. Desserts are a big deal in my family, and this was a very meaningful way to pass down one of my family's culinary traditions - all the desserts my family has shared and enjoyed. I especially love that I get the character of the recipe and have a good idea of who recorded the recipe and when. The majority of the recipes are my mom's, but there are also recipes from my sister, my grandma, my aunt, and other family and friends. The top left is almost certainly one my sister wrote down as a kid, and the other two have my mom's unmistakable handwriting on them.
I've begun to add my own recipes to the recipe book and will be able to share this special piece of my family with my own kids someday. Consider sharing a recipe book like this with the dessert lover on your list!
