I'm not usually a very patriotic person, but something changes on election day. I voted early this year and waited in line forty-five minutes to cast my vote. Having to wait in line is about as difficult as it gets for most Americans to cast their vote, but even this little bit of inconvenience gave me time to reflect on my right to vote and made me more excited about the whole process. One of my coworkers's husbands recently became a citizen and couldn't wait to vote in his first election. He even called up one of his citizenship class buddies to see if he had voted yet. What an exhilarating day!
