As I write this, my family is on their way to Frankfort, Michigan, our annual vacation spot. This will only be the second time in over ten years that I won't be joining (no more vacation time left for this girl), and I'm feeling a little homesick and nostalgic. But since this blog is about finding joy and not about feeling sorry for myself, I'll share a few things that I've loved about our family vacations.
Sunsets over Lake Michigan...Beach soccer games...Jumping off the pier...Walking to the lighthouse...Borrowed Jet skis....Lots of walking, hiking, biking, and running...Frolicking with Libby...Nightly ice cream trips....Flabongos....Brunch at Trick Dog....Day trips to Leeland and Traverse City...Minor League baseball games...Time to relax and laugh together...Nertz....Puzzles...Movies...Shopping on main street...The bookstore...Fish fries...Family friends...Gwen Frostic...The Cherry Hut...Sleeping Bear Dunes...Lots of time to relax and laugh together.
We've been so lucky to have the means and time to travel as a family each year. I know a large part of it was my parents' hard work and dedication to spending time together. So happy for family vacation memories and looking forward to making more next year!
